Video Intern - Baylor College of Medicine Orthopedic Surgery/Urology

Baylor College of Medicine is a health and sciences university that creates knowledge and applies science and discoveries to further education, healthcare, and community service locally and globally.

This internship opportunity has been designed for current college students interested in pursuing careers in health communications, film, and digital cinematography. This internship will provide participants with the chance to work in tandem with a team of professionals who manage the internal and external marketing and communications efforts of both the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Department of Urology while gaining hands-on experience in an academic healthcare institution. Interns to have access to staff and faculty expertise, insights into the negotiation and execution of professional sports sponsorships, research in orthopedic and urological medicine, and orthopedic/urology health education events in the Houston area.

This is an unpaid, part-time (20 hours/week), hybrid internship. Deadline to apply is February 28, 2025.

Job Duties Include:

  • Work closely with a mentor to create and help develop new strategic communication programs designed for external engagement and marketing efforts

  • Help create meaningful and engaging content across multiple social media channels that can highlight new developments in the department, services offered, or educational information regarding orthopedic/urological health and wellness. Preference will be given to those with experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, and video editing programs.

  • Creating and editing content for each department's website

  • Attend meetings with department and college leadership regarding business development, sponsorships, and marketing activities.

  • Gather and analyze metrics for various reporting projects.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should be college or graduate students of at least 18 years of age.

  • Able to commit to eight continuous weeks of attendance.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiar with Canva, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Suites.

  • Creative thinking and attention to detail.
