The New York Times Summer Internships
There has never been a more exciting time to work at The New York Times. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to help our readers better understand the world. During the 10-week program based out of our headquarters in New York City, you will work closely with our teams and attend speaker sessions with leaders from across the organization. All of our internships are paid.
Who can apply?
We accept applications from students in degree-seeking programs, from non-conventional backgrounds such as bootcamps, associates programs or recent grads.
Is there a limit on how many positions I can apply for?
We suggest that you only apply to the 2-4 positions most closely aligned to your experience and goals.
Is there a deadline on when I can apply?
Applications for our Summer 2025 Internships will open on October 18th, 5pm ET and will close on October 25th, 5pm ET. However, in the case of a high volume of applicants, internship applications can close before October 25th.
I’m a recent college graduate. Can I still be considered for an internship opportunity?
Yes. We recommend all interested applicants to attend our information sessions hosted on Handshake, throughout the month of September to learn more about our internship program.
Can I work remotely as an intern?
The majority of our internships are open only for hybrid work (based out of our New York office). However, there are some internships that are open to both remote and hybrid work (based out of our New York Office). Refer to each internship’s job description for more detail.
Do you offer journalism internships?
No. In 2018, we replaced the newsroom internship with a year-long fellowship program.
When will you announce internship program decisions for 2025?
Decisions will be made and announced between the months of December (2024) through February (2025).
