Fort Worth Report Spring and Summer Fellowship

The Report is a nonprofit, nonpartisan digital news organization. With the support of our members, our quality, in-depth journalism is free. We publish without any obligation to outside owners or interests.

We cover all that is best about Fort Worth and Tarrant County: its personalities, neighborhoods, businesses, arts & culture, education, health and local government accountability. We tackle its problems and challenges, too, and spotlight solutions.

The Report began in April 2021 with a small staff focused on solutions journalism and filling in the gaps in coverage. As we continue to grow, we focus on finding excellent staff members who want to report and write relevant and impactful stories that shed light on important issues.

Our fellowship program provides aspiring journalists the opportunity to sharpen their reporting and multimedia skills and to learn with our exceptional news team. We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization with an emphasis on free, fair and local news. We are now searching for the best candidates for our spring 2025 and summer 2025 programs.

The Fort Worth Report's fellowship program provides aspiring journalists the opportunity to sharpen their reporting and multimedia skills and to learn with our exceptional news team. We have openings for our paid fellowship program. We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization with an emphasis on free, fair and local news. Fall and spring positions are part time, and summer positions are full time.

We seek three fellows in the following areas:

Reporting: This fellow should be ready to dive into daily news and enterprise coverage alongside our seasoned reporting staff. Ideal candidates will have experience in community journalism focused on the topics of government, health, education, environment, business, arts and culture, and changing demographics.

Audience engagement: This fellow should be well-versed in social media, and be able to dive in and help our audience engagement team grow our social footprint. This fellow should be an expert in the usual platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, but be willing to help us grow our Instagram, including Reels, and Reddit following and perhaps establish a new presence in arenas such as TikTok.

● Multimedia: This fellow should have strong skills in multimedia production. This position will be responsible for shooting and producing videos to accompany news stories, videos that stand alone and promotional videos for the organization as well as photojournalism. We have available the full suite of Adobe programs to edit and produce videos and photos. The fellow will need to have a camera; we will reimburse for equipment insurance and other business-related expenses.

We don’t expect our fellows to know it all. You will be paired with a mentor who will help develop your skills. Show us your potential and desire to grow with our startup nonprofit news organization. If you are a college student, or recent grad, please apply.

In your application, please include the following:

  • Cover letter

  • Resume

  • Three to five examples of your best journalism work

  • Contact information for three references
