Marketing, Communications, Social Media Intern - Houston Children’s Charity

We are looking for a Marketing, Communications, & Social Media Intern with a passion for helping people and wanting to make a difference in the lives. As our Marketing, Communications, & Social Media Intern, you will work directly with the Marketing Manager to support social media and marketing efforts, including developing tactics, schedules, and executing them. The intern will have the opportunity to create and implement digital marketing and email engagement campaigns to drive successful fundraising campaigns. This will include supporting new strategies, tactics, and tools in the process of working with a fast-moving, crossfunctional, and highly dedicated team of Houston Children’s Charity staff.

The HCC office is located in The Post Oak Hotel Uptown Houston and is open Monday – Friday from 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Internships can be full time or part time. Hours can be flexible to accommodate for class schedules.

*Please Note: This is not a remote position and the internship is unpaid.

Responsibilities

  • Help to develop, schedule, and execute Houston Children’s Charity’s presence on online social networking sites (primarily Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) by posting original, compelling content

  • Monitor website and make updates or changes as needed

  • Create digital monthly newsletters to be distributed through Constant Contact

  • Find new, scalable ways to grow social media following and increase engagement

  • Assist with other marketing duties including copywriting, website, PR, and partnership marketing as necessary

  • Pitch Houston Children’s Charity stories to media, TV, radio, digital and editorial and submit media alerts & press releases on behalf of HCC

  • Build working relationships with various news stations, magazines, online blogs to increase HCC’s media coverage

  • Coordinate with media at events and provide talking points to interviewees/speakers.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with key social media tools (i.e. Facebook, Instagram) with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Hootsuite, Constant Contact, and WordPress.

  • Must be comfortable with writing, proof reading, and a high level of attention to detail.

  • Be self-motivated, innovative and collaborative, and excel as a multi-tasking, creative, and quick thinker

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
