Communication Intern - National Wildlife Refuge System

The internship is with the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS), a federal agency whose primary purpose is to oversee and administer a national network of lands and waters that have been set aside and are managed for the benefit of wildlife and people. There are 560+ national wildlife refuges in the United States and its territories, including five that are within a one hour drive of downtown Houston. This internship is with the Houston Community Partnerships and Engagement, a program of the NWRS that is designed to reach young people and families and get them outside to enjoy and appreciate nature, including on a nearby national wildlife refuge.

This internship is an opportunity to get real-world experience developing nature-related digital media and communications products. You will be part of a team that is creating digital communications tools and programs for young people who are engaging virtually from their home, class or and hospital room. Your work will benefit kids and wildlife!

You will gain experience filming in the field; develop digital communications tools for outreach and education purposes; develop high quality products for your resume; network with a diversity of organizations and governmental agencies; and receive one-on-one guidance and support to help you reach your academic and professional goals.
